| Mr Jaideep | OSD/UT & Joint Secretary Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs | ||
Mr Jaideep is a 1989 batch officer of the Indian Railway Services for Electrical Engineers. Presently he is Officer on Special Duty/UT & Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. He is responsible for planning and implementation of Urban Transport System, Metro System and Green Urban Mobility. He is an Electrical Engineer from REC Kurukshetra and holds an M Tech degree in Control & Instrumentation from IIT Delhi. He also has a degree in law from Faculty of Law, Delhi University. He has held many important portfolios in the Indian Railways. As Executive Director, Electrical Engineering (G)- Ministry of Railways, he was responsible for Technical Planning, Maintenance and Operation of EMU, MEMU and Train Set stock for suburban system on all India basis, Technical Planning, Maintenance and Operation of Kolkata Metro, Train Lighting and Air Conditioning of Main Line coach. As General Manager (Electrical)/Centre for Railway Information System was responsible for maintenance of CRIS data Centre, maintenance of power supply and air conditioning system, development of Crew Management System. |

|
Future of Mobility and Transport is one of the IET’s strategic areas of focus – given the ever increasing role of technology in making mobility smart, accessible and sustainable and the impact it has on billions of lives. The ongoing pandemic has also brought about a number of pressing questions about the very principles that guide urban mobility in a pre-pandemic scenario – including mass transits and building urban transport hubs. Futuristic technologies including electrification, application of digital technology, automation based deployment of image recognition, machine learning and AI, creation of new business models assume even more importance in building urban mobility solutions. This talk will focus on the challenges facing urban transport, opportunities and possible solutions. |
